Get active, Get smart 2006

a festival of fun, fitness and wellbeing being held during Term 3, 2006 for the students, teachers and families of the Gateway Learning Community

 

Metroplex  Wildwords - Get active, Get smart will feature :

  • An evening Launch at Riverbend Books on July 17
  • A student Launch at the Morningside Festival on July 30
  • The ‘Big Night Out’ on August 25, a spectacular celebratory evening of activities, performances, displays, music, food and fun held in the grounds of Balmoral SHS
  • Community walks
  • Integrated units of work with strong health components in schools including programs such as Jump Rope for Heart and 10,000 Steps
  • Active and healthy living workshops
  • Visits by sport and health related professionals
  • Come and try opportunities
  • Showcases of student work
  • Professional development for teachers and parents

During the festival GLC schools and selected community sites will become festival venues staging and showcasing learning around health and wellbeing.
